A personal brand is your identity, it’s how you’re going to gain potential clients. As a entreprenuer, you need to have something that’s unique to you. What makes you important? Why should a client pick you over another? What do you have to offer?
The world of entreprenuers is growing every year. This is great news for the entrepreneur who wants to start building their personal brand. But it means the market is that much more competitive. Here’s what you’ll need to do in order to find success.
Find your Niche
Figuring out a niche is essential. Your niche is how you want to be known. Are you a freelance blogger who excels at writing financial content? Are you a digital marketer? Find out who you are, and promote that.
This can evolve as you learn new skills and can evolve as you do. This is just a starting point. Focus in on a specific area that you not only work well with but that you enjoy. Remember being a freelancer, contractor or entreprenuer, means choosing your business. Choose the business you enjoy.
Research Experts In Your Field
Imitation is the form of flattery. There are always going to be experts in a field of personal interest. Study and follow those who do it best. Visit their blogs, check their social media profiles. Learn what makes the best the best, and put your own twist on it.
Develop A Strong And Trusting Content Strategy
Show don’t sell. Instead of telling others how great you are in a certain field, show them. Write content that actually helps people without a sales pitch. Putting out consistent helpful content will build trusting relationships. Nothing is more valuable than these relationships for an entrepreneur trying to build a name.
Develop A Consistent Routine
Like your niche, your routine can change and evolve over time. But when you’re getting started find a schedule that works for you and follow it. This means if you aim to post one blog every two days, then do it. Try to follow similar times as well. Then once you start building a small following, they will know when your posting, and know when to engage.
Network, Network, And Network
I often think of the classic Field Of Dreams quote “Build it, and they will come”. The quote works well within the context of the movie but doesn’t work well with building a personal brand. The quote you would use would look more like “Build it, and go searching for your audience”.
I know it doesn’t flow quite as well. What I’m saying here is posting content on several platforms isn’t enough. You scratch my back and I scratch yours, is another analogy that works here. Connect with as many people as you can. Comment on their posts, share their posts, message people, and ask for advice.
By doing these things, they will visit your page. Then if they like it, maybe they’ll share it, and all of a sudden their network becomes your network.
Building a personal brand won’t happen overnight. It takes endless dedication and hard work. It’s extremely important because this gives you a face. These steps will separate you from others who aren’t putting in the work.
