If you are going to a virtual event or meeting with 3 or more people here are some tips you should follow:
- Sit close to the screen. Your face should fill most of it.
- Use a microphone or headset.
- Hit mute when not talking.
- Don't eat
- When you're on an audio call and on mute, you can do whatever you want. But when you're on mute on a video call, you need to act like you're engaged: Look at the camera, nod your head.
- Don't sit with the window behind you; lighting goes a long way.
- When talking, look at the camera, not at the screen. You'll appear more engaging and honest this way.
- When you're talking, go slow.
- If you're using a phone, don't walk, and if you're using a laptop, don't set it on your lap.
- Have your Linkedin profile weblink to use as your digital business card. I like to share it in the chat.
Stand out from the crowd; almost nobody follows these.
