Connecting with your audience is always important. People crave authenticity, and if you can’t deliver that, they’ll be sure to find a company that can. However, during these frightening times, connecting with your audience might be more important than ever.

How you and your brand come out of this pandemic will determine a lot. Were you empathetic? Did you reach out to your audience to ask them how they’re dealing with this situation? These are the things that make a company so much more.

Here are a few ways to connect with your audience during this pandemic to show them that you truly do care.

Don’t Be Afraid To Ask For Help

If you’re a small business who is at risk of going out of business during this pandemic, reach out through social media. People don’t want your business closing down, but if you don’t announce that you need a little help, they might not know just how bad it is.

Make an honest and sincere social media post about your situation. Ask some people to come down to your shop and pick up a few things. You don’t need your pride to be the reason that you close. Reach out, and let people know. We’re all in this together.

Show Some Empathy For Others During This Difficult Time

This is extremely important. People don’t want an email sent out to countless others stating “Dear valued guest, we hope you are keeping safe and healthy”. This doesn’t show you care. All it shows is that you wrote one email and sent it off to everyone on your email list.

Personalize your emails to fit each guest. Ask them how they’ve been feeling. Be sincere. You can also state how you’ve helped out friends and neighbors during this difficult time. These are the types of stories your audience wants to read.

Make Sure That You’re Consistent Across All Channels

Consistency is in line with authenticity. There are many different channels that your brand’s image is a part of. Different social media platforms, as well as your physical place of business. These all need to be in line to present the same message to your audience.

Make sure to check all of the platforms that you’re a part of and ensure that it’s consistent with the image that you want for yourself. People perceive your business in a certain way. Make sure that it’s the way you want it.

Host A Virtual Event To Engage With Your Audience

Just because you’re not physically with your audience doesn’t mean that you can’t find new ways to spark up a conversation.

There are different ways that you can do this. You could put on a virtual Q&A. Do a quick presentation and let your audience ask as many questions as they need. This is a great way to make them feel as though their voices are being heard.

Try your hand at different forms of videos. Let your audience watch instructional videos. Try your hand at some animated videos, to make it fun and often times less expensive.

These are crucial times for your company. You need to make sure that you’re putting forth every effort you can to make your audience feel comfortable and engaged.
